Rancho Bernardo Dentist | 3D X-rays make most Dental Implant complications a thing of the past

Posted By:CDS

At Classic Dental Smiles, we recently acquired some of the most high tech pieces of equipment available in dentistry, a 3-D xray machine, more technically known as a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) unit. While a medical grade CT scanner makes multiple revolutions around a patient, a CBCT makes a single revolution (really 180 degrees) dramatically decreasing the amount of radiation and improving the clarity of areas specific to dentistry. Here in Rancho Bernardo, we use the Galileos Comfort Plus, an amazing machine made by Sirona.

It’s hard for us to state just how much this has elevated our level of care. The additional information we get from the xray has answered questions to mysterious tooth pain, helped us to identify potential complications prior to surgical procedures, and allowed us to plan the placement and restoration of dental implants with an unprecedented level of precision. It has made it easier for patients to understand what the situation is and what treatment can be done. It’s truly a remarkable piece of technology that makes dentistry more efficient and predictable.

But that’s not all. In regards to missing teeth and dental implants, we can combine the 3-D xray technology with our Cerec machine, creating a workflow that starts with the end in mind. The Cerec machine plans out where the tooth needs to be functionally and esthetically within the mouth; the Galileos helps to identify where the implant needs to be surgically. This ensures that the process gives us the result we want from start to finish. It reduces complications and raises the level of success that we are now able to achieve through this process.

As you may have already assumed, it’s quite difficult to explain all the benefits of the technology in one short blog post. We invite you to visit our office and find out more about how this technology can help you achieve better dental health. Dr. Brian Chan and our team would love to meet you, answer any questions you may have, and share how 3-D xrays and same-day crowns have helped our patients here at Classic Dental Smiles!
